Helena's
Victorian Inn

The Appleton Inn Bed and Breakfast is located in beautiful Helena, Montana, providing a taste of Victorian elegance in a Big Sky setting.

Spend your night in Helena at the Appleton Inn! Built in 1890 by George Appleton, this Victorian Inn was home to Montana's first dentist, Dr. John V. Cole and his family. The family lived in the home until 1970, when it was converted to rental apartments. In 1990, Cheryl and Tom extensively researched and renovated the home, being careful to maintain its unique character and original structure. Many pictures and stories of both George Appleton and the Dr. Cole family are found throughout the home.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Appleton Inn Bed and Breakfast provides a taste of Victorian elegance in a Big Sky Montana setting. The beautiful oak entryway welcomes you up the large staircase to comfortable rooms which have been uniquely decorated for your individual comfort. The main common area of the house is complete with original cherry and oak woodwork, pocket doors and large picturesque windows.

Guests are quick to settle in and feel at home while visiting the Appleton Inn. The large wrap around porch, beautiful perennial gardens, and spacious back lawn are just a few of the favorite places to be enjoyed. The two parlors make it comfortable to converse with friends or enjoy a movie or listen to music.

Refreshments are served while making plans for the afternoon and evening's activities. Awake from a well rested sleep to find a full breakfast in the main dining room or on the back lawn during the summer months.

Special entrees include Huckleberry Blintz, Wild Rice Quiche, Pecan Waffles (to name a few), fresh in-season fruits, homemade cinnamon rolls, muffins, and coffee cakes. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and indulge in lively conversation with newfound friends while sipping freshly brewed coffee, tea, juices.

Cheryl and Tom are committed to making each guest's stay a most memorable one. They are also very involved in the Appleton Heirloom Furniture Company, located on the premises. Here, they design and craft quality heirloom furniture for each individual customer. Hand-crafted bedroom sets, side tables, curio cabinets, and hall trees are just a few of the furnishings currently in the home. Guests sometimes have difficulty distinguishing them from the antique furnishings due to the unique style and craftsmanship.
